My research focuses on using next generation sequencing techniques to examine beetle-fungus symbioses in lab-reared populations, as well as identifying new symbiont-host pairings in wild populations of anobiid beetles. Prior to coming to UNM, I worked as an Illumina sequencing technician at MIT's Bio MicroCenter, where I specialized in high throughput sample preparation. I received a B.S. from Northeastern University in Chemistry, and am passionate about advancing diversity in STEM fields.

My background focused on the effects of anthropogenic disturbances (e.g., climate change and habitat fragmentation) on food web structure and stability. In southern New South Wales, I examined the impacts of fragmentation on invertebrate food webs. Further north, in Alaska's arctic and subarctic regions, I investigated climate-mediated impacts on below ground "brown" energy flow. My Ph.D. work focuses on animal–fungal symbioses. Specifically, I am interested in the nutritional role (e.g., vitamins, sterols, amino acids) of symbiotic fungi in a beetle–fungus symbioses model.

I joined the Martinson lab in 2021 to pursue my MS in Biology at UNM. I am generally interested in microbiology and microbial genomics. My MS project focuses on identification of novel bacteria Candidatus Symbiopectobacterium. In my free time I enjoy nature walks and good music.
Prior to UNM, I finished my undergraduate degree in Economics and a professional Master's degree in Finance at University of Split, Croatia.

I joined Martinson's lab in late 2021. I am interested in biology of microorganisms, especially bacteria and fungi. In the lab, I get to culture the five different species of Symbiotaphrina we are working with. When I am not studying, or in the lab, I enjoy doing sudoku puzzles and listening to music.
